A CARING TOUCH

Having grown from a small company with five staff to a multi-national corporation with a strong brand presence around the world, Rigel recognises that it is the environment, the community and the people that have made us who we are today. As such, we always strive to fulfill our corporate social responsibility (CSR) towards them.

Caring for the planet is part and parcel of what we do every day. We don’t just preach green messages; we walk the talk through company-wide eco-loving activities, such as reducing the use of plastic products. Plans for waste collection by the beach are also in the pipeline, similar to Clean and Green Week initiatives which we used to sponsor to promote proper sanitation and environmental hygiene in Singapore.

Upholding our obligations to the community, we have also been supporting the Salvation Army and organising shoe donation drives for Soles4Souls, a non-profit social enterprise that provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing to the underprivileged. Moving forward, we will be organising other types of charity drives such as donation to the blood bank.

In terms of nurturing future talents, we will continue to provide donations, scholarships and bursaries to the Singapore University of Technology and Design, the United World College of South East Asia, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Raffles Institution and other educational institutions that share our ideals of innovation and sustainability. At the same time, we intend to offer internship programmes to institutes of higher learning and share our knowledge with the younger generation, so that they can continue to carry the torch. We hope to play our part to groom the next generation of professionals for the green economy of tomorrow, an economy that is driven by smart technologies.

The desire to give back to those who have nurtured our growth does not stop at CSR initiatives. Empowering our staff and promoting a people-centric culture is an integral part of Rigel’s work ethics, for we understand that it is our people who make all development plans possible. Besides maximising our employees’ potential through trainings and mentorships, we have also set in place staff welfare programmes aimed at encouraging work-life balance and a healthy lifestyle. An in-house gym reflects our commitment to create a comfortable work environment, while our annual Health Week and annual health screening safeguards our employees’ physical well-being.
